Dangarembga’s use of Shona terms throughout the book adds a little bit of difficulty to understanding the reading. Dangarembga uses Shona terms mostly when she is referring to people and there class. She would use them when referring to Tambu’s aunts and uncles. They would refer to Babamukuru as several different titles especially when he did something impressive and worthy of praise. Also, when they she was talking about things around the homestead it was possible to have an idea of what it was form the context. It is most confusing when she uses full sentences because the context does not always clarify the meaning well.

Such as the vegetables sometimes she used 3 different words like corn, maze, and "mealies". Also I was confused when Tambu's uncle had different names such as "Babamukuru", and "Mukumo"
