  1. I think that the inner conflicts for Nyasha and Tambu was the differences in their experience and point of views to certain things. Tambu grew up on the homestead with little to nothing, so when she reached the mission, she felt as if she had reached heaven. When Tambu saw how unhappy Nyasha was in her home, she decided that Nyasha was ungrateful for all that she had been provided. Nyasha, on the other hand, had a little more of an understanding of what was really going on in her home. She understood the reasons behind her mothers unhappiness, what her father was like behind closed doors, and why her family should not have been praised for what they had. This caused Nyasha to treat her parents with no respect. Because of Nyasha's and Tambu's two different points of views, their personalities clashed. An example of their different point of views is this quote from the book by Tambu, "My first instinct was to join the adoring women...'Don't you dare,' Nyasha hissed...the urge to extol Babamukuru's magnanimity was implacable(161)." The quote displayed Nyasha and Tambu's different perspectives on Babamukuru's intentions and what he deserved. Tambu was also in denial about what she already new about Babamukuru. This quote by Tambu, "I was simply not ready to accept that Babamukuru was a historical artefact; or that advantage and disadvantage were predetermined...and that the benefit would only really be a long-term one if people like Babamukuru kept on fulfilling their social obligation(162)," showed that Tambu was starting to see Nyasha's point of view on Babamukuru.

    1. I think this is really well written and expressed your ideas in a straight forward and easy to understand way. I do not understand why you wrote that Nyasha family "should not have been praised for what they had." they were not really praised for what they had. Babamukuru was praised for receiving and education and taking care of the family but Tambu's mother is actually against them when Maiguru brings the dover stove to the house for christmas.

  3. I feel that the inner conflicts between Nyasha and Tambu would be that Tambu kind of disproves of what her cousin has become, but also looks in awe at her because she wants to be like that. Nyasha disproves of how Tambu acts like all of the other women in her family, by treating herself as lower than the men in her family. The best quote to describe this is "My first instinct was to join in the adoring women... 'Don't you dare,' Nyasha hissed... The urge to extol Babamukuru's magnanimity was implacable ".
